Connecting to your stream without Auto-DJ

Connecting to your stream directly from an encoder is widely used by users that prefer to have their playlists and songs stored locally, without the use of Auto-DJ.

All your broadcasts would essentially be done in a live-environment, all playlists, songs, and DJ'ing would be done from your local computer directly while its connected to your CentovaCast stream. You also do not need to go through with the hassle of setting up Auto-DJ and can basically start live-streaming within a couple minutes.

Live broadcasting is done from encoding software, some popular free options include:

  • RocketBroadcaster (Windows)
  • Butt (Broadcast Using This Tool) (Windows, MacOS)
  • LadioCast (MacOS)

Any encoder that supports Shoutcast or Icecast connections will also work perfectly fine.

Info

Streaming directly from an encoder does require a decent but stable internet connection, if you do not have a stable internet connection we would recommend setting up Auto-DJ and then connecting to Auto-DJ directly, as then Auto-DJ can act as a fall-back if you ever do lose connection.

Setting up your stream for live connections from an encoder

Firstly, you need to login to CentovaCast. Your CentovaCast login details should be sent via email, we also allow direct login through the Client Area

Now that you have logged into CentovaCast, make sure to disable auto-DJ.

Disabling Auto-DJ

Once logged into CentovaCast, Auto-DJ should already be enabled by default so you will need to disable it.

You can disable Auto-DJ by going to CentovaCast > Configuration > Settings > Auto-DJ > Permitted and Disabled.

Once Auto-DJ has been disabled, the "Auto-DJ" section should now be gone in CentovaCast's main left column block.

Starting up your stream

Now that Auto-DJ has been disabled, simply click on the "Start" button under CentovaCast > Server > Start

Your stream should now be started, and is ready for connections.

Connecting to your stream from your encoder

Now you will need to enter your connection details into your encoder of choice. If you are using RocketBroadcaster as your encoder, these details can be entered in RocketBroadcaster > Broadcast > Streams

To find your connection details for your specific stream go to CentovaCast > General > Quick Links > Choose the settings under "AutoDJ is not running".
